Rumspringer
Are a three-piece gritty pop punk hailing from Tempe, AZ. Following up a 10″ and a couple of 7″s. Rumspringer released their debut album last year on the very awesome Traffic Street Records.
Now I could probably sit around making comparisons with the likes of Crimpshrine/F.Y.P/Scared Of Chaka/Jawbreaker/Green Day and a bunch of other Lookout! bands. Fact of the matter is though, Rumspringer is unique in itself, they’ve done it their own way. Lyrically often personal and sometimes region specific, this is still easy to relate to and even easier to re-listen to. If you’re listening to Empty Towers for the 1st time or 101st time this band never gets boring or mudane like some. Not all bands stand the test of time. But Rumspringer do and they probably will.
Anyways. – Oct 2010; I took a trip over to FL for The Fest and Tampa hangouts, telling stupid English jokes and explaining regional sayings to American’s is pretty funny after about 12 beers and 3 cans of joose. I don’t remember what day it was but I was definitely drunkenly rambling on outside at pre-fest in Tampa, There was one guy (there’s always one) who seemed to find my ramblings on the subject of “Tosspot’s” pretty funny and in fact just about everything else a couple my British friends said aswell was some dude called Matt. We found out later this was Matt from Rumspringer who was pretty much overwhelmed to know that people in the U.K have actually heard of his band.
Roll on November time I chanced an email to see if they wanted to tour Europe, although that wasn’t a direct possibility, they agreed to be apart of the Boozehounds 4 way 7″ w/ Mayflower/Calvinball/The Dauntless Elite, which is out this May. And Europe 2012? I’ll just keep pestering them.
Wes: Guitar/Vocals
